Introducing Mental Fitness in Schools

With over 12 years of expertise in mindfulness and wellbeing science, Smiling Mind has developed an evidence-based mental fitness program to build lifelong skills. In the same way kids learn about physical fitness, we can teach them mental fitness through regular practice and empower them to thrive.

In 2025, we’ll introduce the Smiling Mind Mental Fitness Model into the Smiling Mind Primary School Program, focusing on five core skills: mindfulness, flexible thinking, connection, purpose, and recharging the body.

We’re excited to integrate the Smiling Mind Mental Fitness Model into our Primary Classroom Curriculum, and to support educators to bring mental fitness education to primary schools.

  • The Smiling Mind Primary School Program is designed as a Whole School Program, and is available for purchase based on the number of students in the school, not the number of educators using it. If you are a wellbeing coordinator that intends to implement the Smiling Mind Curriculum across multiple year levels or classes, you should purchase a whole school program.

However, we understand that sometimes it’s challenging to bring the entire school on board right away, and individual subscriptions are available for educators looking to implement the Smiling Mind Program to a single class, CRTs, and teacher’s aids or school psychologists supporting individual students’ social and emotional learning and wellbeing.

Individual Primary Classroom Curriculum subscriptions are available for purchase here.

  • The updated pricing structure is effective from January 2025. If you are renewing or purchasing before this time, please check our online store or contact our team directly.

  • Yes, the Smiling Mind Primary School Program is great for Casual Relief Teachers (CRTs)! Many CRTs have reported significant benefits from using the program, as it equips them with valuable resources to support student wellbeing in their classrooms. With access to age-appropriate lessons and mental fitness tools for years 1-6, and Brain Breaks for students as young as prep, CRTs can easily jump in and contribute to students' social and emotional learning, and create a positive impact even in short-term engagements.

  • The Smiling Mind Primary School Program can be run as a standalone wellbeing program, and can also work seamlessly alongside other programs commonly used in schools. For those who are implementing the Smiling Mind curriculum as a standalone wellbeing program, we recommend that you follow the 20 SEL topics in the order that they are presented, as they are designed and scaffolded to flow this way. We understand that educators often juggle multiple resources, and the ‘plug-and-play’ nature of the lesson plans and resources mean that educators can also easily jump into lessons that complement the sequencing of other programs.

  • Each classroom is made up of students with a wide range of diverse needs and learning styles. Using the guidance included within our program materials, the Smiling Mind Primary School Program can be adapted to meet the needs of most students. Our program provides training and resources for educators to explore how they can best set their classroom up for success, and dives deeper into some of the common challenges when teaching social emotional learning. Guides are provided on how to adapt the program for different student needs within the classroom, as well as special topic training videos on topics such as ‘Working with Trauma’ and ‘Working with ADHD’. In addition, all of our lesson plans and supporting materials have been designed using trauma-informed principles.
