We've reached 2-million global users. Mindfulness in the home is our next frontier

10 July 2017 Smiling Mind

From humble beginnings in 2012, our two founders Jane Martino and James Tutton had the foresight to see the opportunity that technology could provide in bringing mindfulness to everyone.

As of this week, two million people now have Smiling Mind’s guided meditations available to them in their back pocket.

We’ve been consistently ranked as one of Apple’s top meditation and mindfulness apps since our launch and the growth of our free app across iOS and Android follows the global lifestyle trend in people taking a more proactive mindful approach to building healthy minds in their workplace, their children’s education and everyday lives.

But what makes Smiling Mind so different? While adopting a modern and accessible approach to mindfulness meditation, our not-for-profit business model has sustained its growth while staying true to our value of delivering free evidence based products that people want to use to live healthy lives.

We work predominantly within Australian schools providing workshops and curriculum resources to over 25,000 educators on how to embed an ongoing mindfulness practice within classrooms.

However, as our world transitions to a more on-demand society we understand the need to evolve and innovate our products.

We’re now looking at ways in which we can embed mindfulness within your home through new and innovative ways, with the aim to hopefully one day make mindfulness meditation as accessible and as routine as other healthy choices such as exercising.

As a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to social impact, we’re incredibly proud of where we are in 2017, but we’re even more excited about the future.
